Answers to Common Mazlo Questions
Show all
Is Mazlo secure and compliant with IRS guidelines?
+
Yes. Mazlo is SOC 2 compliant. We use encrypted communications, access controls, and comprehensive logging to ensure data security. The platform is built with nonprofit best practices and IRS compliance standards in mind.
What kind of support does Mazlo offer?
+
We offer hands-on onboarding assistance, a dedicated customer success team, documentation, and live support. Whether you’re facing a technical issue or need help designing a policy, we’re here for you.
How is Mazlo different from traditional nonprofit banking?
+
Mazlo doesn’t just provide nonprofit checking accounts, it’s an all-in-one platform designed specifically for the operational, financial, and compliance challenges of fiscal sponsorship. Unlike traditional banks or credit unions, which offer general-purpose checking, Mazlo delivers embedded tools for donation management, grant reporting, automated expense control, and sub-accounting. This means nonprofits can manage multiple sponsored projects, track funds per donor or grant, and automate compliance in ways standard financial institutions simply can't support. With Mazlo, you're not retrofitting a for-profit system, you're using one purpose-built for your nonprofit ecosystem.
Can I onboard gradually or do I need to migrate everything at once?
+
You can start small and expand later. Many of our users begin with one or two projects, then scale up as they get comfortable with the platform. There's no pressure to migrate everything at once.
Do I need to change accounting software to use Mazlo?
+
Not at all. Mazlo integrates with QuickBooks and Sage. You can continue using the tools you already rely on while enhancing your financial controls with Mazlo.
Is Mazlo only for 501(c)(3) organizations?
+
Mazlo supports a variety of nonprofit structures. While most of our customers are 501(c)(3)s, we also work with 501(c)(4)s and religious institutions.
Can my project leaders access their own data and balances?
+
Yes. Project leaders can log in to view balances, submit disbursement requests, upload receipts, and track their spending. You control the level of access and visibility each user has.
